Rateable Values
Each non-domestic property has a rateable value that is normally set by an Independent Valuation Officer of the Valuation Office Agency.

The rateable value of your business property can be found on the front of your rates bill.

Rateable values are listed in the Local Rating List, which you can you can see at the Town Hall (Skipton).  You can also view the Local Rating List on-line at the Valuation Office Agency website www.voa.gov.uk.

The Valuation Officer has to maintain the list and may alter the value if the circumstances or the property have changed.  The ratepayer, or anyone else who has an interest in the property can appeal against the value shown in the list if they consider that it is wrong.  Further information on making an appeal, and the grounds for making one, can be found on the VOA website www.voa.gov.uk, or you can write to the local Valuation Officer at the following address:

 Harrogate Valuation Office
 Windsor House
 Cornwall Road
 Harrogate
 North Yorkshire
 HG1 2PW

All non-domestic property is re-valued every 5 years.  The latest revaluation came into effect on 1 April 2005.  For more information see 2005 Revaluation page
