Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour in Craven

The partnership employs an Anti-Social Behaviour Co0ordinator who has corporate and partnership responsibilities for ensuring that:-

Anti-Social Behaviour is properly reflected in the Safer Craven Community Partnership Plan

The Partnership has an Anti-Social Behaviour Common Standards of Practice document and this is effectively delivered

A named person can act as a point of contact for Government Office and the Anti-Social Behaviour Unit at the Home Office.

Anti-social behaviour is any behaviour deemed unacceptable.  The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 states that anti-social behaviour is acting in a way that causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to one or more people outside the same household.

There are many types of anti-social behaviour, but the real issue is whether the behaviour forms a pattern, which continues over a period of time.

Persistent instances of nuisance vehicles,  drug dealing, graffiti, aggressive behaviour, shouting and swearing and intimidation can seriously affect a person's quality of life.

The Safer Craven Community Partnership alongside Craven District Council, North Yorkshire Police and Craven Housing are committed to taking appropriate action to prevent and deal with actual or potential incidents of anti-social behaviour.  Tackling anti-social behaviour is not the sole responsibility of any one specific agency.  Working together we can ensure that incidents are recorded and dealt with effectively and without delay.  Local communities are, therefore, encouraged to become actively involved in reporting anti-social behaviour and contributing actively to building and protecting the community in which we all live.

In all instances were a crime has been committed, the police should be notified immediately.
