Domestic Abuse
North Yorkshire Domestic Abuse Initiative

Under the North Yorkshire Domestic Abuse Initiative, a Domestic Abuse Co-ordinator was appointed jointly for both the Craven and Harrogate areas.

The Domestic Abuse Co-ordinator for Craven & Harrogate is Mary Hebden.  Her remit has been to produce a joint strategy for both Craven and Harrogate on domestic violence.  This work has been ongoing since 1st April 2004.  The strategy has now been through the consultation process and the document has been incorporated into the Craven Crime Reduction Strategy 2005-08.

The Co-ordinator has also produced a Directory of Domestic Abuse Services throughout the Craven and Harrogate areas.  It contains information identified as being possible sources of support for victims, survivors and perpetrators of domestic abuse within the county/district.  The information within this document is primarily intended for the use of agency workers and other support organisations, to enable them to signpost service users appropriately and to ensure effective multi-agency working.

If you are experiencing, or have experienced domestic abuse, emotional and practical support is available by contacting the national 24 hour freephone helpline, run by Women's Aid and Refuge on 0808 2000 247.  Alternatively, contact the local service, Craven Domestic Violence Services or any of the national agencies as indicated under the links.
