Charities receive cheques from Council’s 2008/09 Chairman

Councillor Marcia Turner, Chairman 2008/09, presents cheques to her chosen charities.
At Craven District Council’s Audit Committee meeting on 30 June the Chairman, Councillor Chris Harbron, welcomed Kath Dyer from Airedale Breast Cancer Unit and Tony Doveston from the Air Ambulance Trust who received cheques of £3,060 each.  These were the chosen charities of the 2008/09 Chairman, Councillor Marcia Turner who raised and presented the money.
 
Both charities also received £250 each previously from a participant in the Chairman’s Triathlon held at the Council’s Craven Pool and Fitness Centre.
 
Tony Doveston expressed his thanks for the Council’s continuous support through its new chairman, Councillor David Crawford.  He explained how essential donations are to help the Air Ambulance maintain its vital service, especially in cutting down lifesaving times between accidents and hospitals in the Craven area.
 
Kath Dyer also expressed her gratitude for the donation which will help support the Unit and those people attending the Airedale Breast Cancer Unit.
 
Councillor Marcia Turner wishes to thank everyone who has helped and contributed to her local charities.
