Which services are delivering this priority?
What action are we taking?
The Corporate Plan 2008-2011 identifies the Council's key goals. Areas for action focus on:
- Creating a strong economy
- Increasing the vitality of the District's market towns
- Strengthening our rural communities
- Working in partnership to improve transport
Working in partnership as part of the Leeds City Region we will improve economic outcomes for the area, and enable key strategic development sites to facilitate economic development throughout Craven.
We will work to increase the vitality of the District’s market towns through regeneration to maintain and enhance them as high quality and dynamic market towns with significance as key tourism destinations.
We will focus on delivering the Skipton and Settle Renaissance Market Town Initiatives and the Bentham Gateway Partnership to enhance Bentham’s role as a key gateway to the Forest of Bowland.
We will strengthen our rural communities through implementing the Rural Strategy to promote rural economic development.
We will continue to work in partnership to improve transport across the District. Working with North Yorkshire County Council we will create a new Skipton Bus Station. We will also explore the feasibility of creating additional car parking in Skipton and support the development of community transport initiatives.
