Cemeteries
The Cemeteries have the provision for burials of various faiths with a separate Muslim section at Waltonwrays Cemetery.

A service  may be held at the chapels at both Cemeteries though Ingleton is rarely used. Families are advised to visit the chapel prior to confirming arrangements

 

We have now identified  an area for the use for a baby section at Waltonwrays Cemetery.  Landscaping works will be completed in 2005 prior to the area being used

 

History

  1. Ingleton Cemetery was opened in 1882.
  2. Waltonwray Cemetery was opened in 1874  at a cost of several thousand pounds and covers an area of ten acres

Summer:  1 April to 31 August           9.00am to 8.00pm

Winter:    1 September to 30 March   9.00am to 4.00pm

  1. Why are graves dug so deep? (it's distressing to see the coffin go down so deep)
  2. Why are there so many different types of grave available at some cemeteries ?
  3. I have a lawn grave. Why can't I put a full memorial over the surface of the grave?
  4. Are graves filled in straight after a funeral or are they left to the next day?
  5. I understand that some people wait while the grave is filled in. Why is this?
