The Council's receives an Annual Audit Letter from its external auditor, the Audit Commission.

The Audit Letter provides an overall summary of the Council's performance based on the audit work undertaken as part of the Audit Commission's Audit and Inspection Programme.

The Audit Letter includes a summary of performance against the following:

  • the Council's accounts
  • Council's Direction of Travel
  • Council's Use of Resources
  • any other service inspections or follow up of previous inspections

The most recent Annual Audit Letter considering performance in the 2008/2009 financial year was issued to the Council in December 2009.

These documents can be made available in other languages or formats such as braille, large print or audio on request.
