Statement of Accounts
The Statement of Accounts is intended to give electors, Members, employees and other interested parties clear information about the Authority’s finances.

The purpose of the Statement of Accounts is to provide answers to basic questions such as:-

  1. What did the Council’s services cost in the year of account ?
  2. Where did the money come from ?
  3. What did the Council own and owe at the end of the financial year

The Statement of Accounts is prepared in accordance with the Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting.

 

The Statement of Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2008 has now been produced in draft form. This can be downloaded from this website.

Copies in alternative formats or languages can be made available on request.

Copies of previous year's (2006-2007) Statement of Accounts are also available.

Public Inspection of Accounts
Any person interested has the right to inspect those accounts and documents and make copies. 

The Council's accounts and related documents for the period 1 April 2007 to 31 March 2008 will be available for public inspection from Monday 30th June to Friday 25th July inclusive, during office opening hours at:
 
Council Offices, Granville Street, Skipton, BD23 1PS  

Questions to the Auditor and Objections to the Accounts

The Council's auditor has appointed Tuesday 12th August 2008 as the date on or an after which local government electors for the area, or their representatives, may make objections to the accounts for the year ended 31 March 2008.

Objections can be made from Tuesday 12th August 2008,  until the date the auditor certifies the completion of the audit.

Written noitice of any question or objection and the grounds on which it is to be made should be sent to the council's appointed auditor.

A copy of the written notice must also be sent to:
