What is an Area Forum?
It’s a public meeting where you can:
- Hear about plans of the Council and other organisations that affect your area
- Raise concerns or ask questions about local public services
- Make suggestions about how your area can be improved
- Find out about things happening in your area
- Say what you think should be done to improve your area
- Tell the Council your views on plans for your area
- One of the most important parts of the meeting is the Open Forum session which allows residents to have their say about any “burning issues” locally.
What sort of issues get discussed ?
A variety of issues are discussed including
Road and Traffic Problems,Regeneration Projects,
Dog Fouling, Housing Needs, Crime and Police,
Local Community Projects, Planning Issues,
Play Areas, Recycling, Litter and Much More.
Who goes to Area Forums ?
As well as local residents a wide range of other people attend Area Forums.
These include Local Councillors and
representatives from organisations such as :-
Craven District Council
Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority
Safer Craven Craven Community Partnership
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service
North Yorkshire County Council
North Yorkshire Police
All these people attend Area Forums so they can hear your views and make sure that the services they deliver now and in the future meet the needs of local people.
