Benefit Change of Circumstances
What to do if your circumstances change
If anything happens which might affect how much benefit you get, you must tell us immediately. If you don't tell us about a change on time, and we pay you too much benefit, you may have to pay it back.

You must tell us about the following changes:

  1. changes in your or your partner's income
  2. changes in your non-dependants income
  3. you start or stop receiving Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance
  4. you start or stop receiving tax credits or there is a change in the amount paid
  5. you start or stop receiving other benefits

Please also tell us if:

  1. you change your address
  2. the number of people living with you increases or decreases i.e. your partner comes to live with you, you have another child, or a non dependant leaves home etc
  3. you or your partner goes into hospital for more than 4 weeks
  4. you or your partner becomes a student or stops being a student
  5. the amount of savings or capital you have changes

This list is not exhaustive – if you are not sure whether a change will affect your benefit please ask.
