What to do if your circumstances change
If anything happens which might affect how much benefit you get, you must tell us immediately. If you don't tell us about a change on time, and we pay you too much benefit, you may have to pay it back.
You must tell us about the following changes:
- changes in your or your partner's income
- changes in your non-dependants income
- you start or stop receiving Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance
- you start or stop receiving tax credits or there is a change in the amount paid
- you start or stop receiving other benefits
Please also tell us if:
- you change your address
- the number of people living with you increases or decreases i.e. your partner comes to live with you, you have another child, or a non dependant leaves home etc
- you or your partner goes into hospital for more than 4 weeks
- you or your partner becomes a student or stops being a student
- the amount of savings or capital you have changes
This list is not exhaustive – if you are not sure whether a change will affect your benefit please ask.
