Council Tax bills are payable in ten monthly instalments, although the actual number of instalments permitted will depend on when the bill is issued.
Instalments are due on the 1st of every month, unless you pay by direct debit when you can opt to pay either on the 1st or the 20th of the month.
Methods of Payment
Direct Debit
This is the safest and most convenient way to pay.
- You have a choice of two dates - the 1st or 20th of each month
- You receive at least 14 days notice of when your bank account will be debited and by how much
- You are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your bank in the unlikely event of anything going wrong
- You can cancel the Direct Debit at any time, so you stay in control. You can forget queues, cheques and stamps
- You do not have to complete a new mandate each year; the same one carries on
Did you know that paying by cash or cheque costs Craven District Council as much as 70 pence per month more, per customer, than paying by Direct Debit. In one financial year alone, this is £7.00 per customer. Why don't you join the 14,000 customers who already pay their Council Tax by Direct Debit and help your Council save money.
Please complete and return the direct debit instruction enclosed with your bill to Craven District Council, Customer and Benefit Services, Town Hall, High Street, Skipton, BD23 1AH.
Alternatively, download a copy of the direct debit instruction, complete and sign it, and return to the address above.
