Craven Phoenix Project
The Craven Phoenix Project is a five year project aimed at making all the museums in Craven more accessible. It is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and Craven District Council. The project has employed two professionals, an Assistant Curator of Archaeology on a three year contract who will work solely with Craven Museum's collections and an Assistant Curator, Collections and Volunteers on a five year contract working with all four museums: The Craven Museum & Gallery (Skipton), Upper Wharfedale Folk Life Museum (Grassington), The Museum of North Craven Life (The Folly, Settle) and Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway Museum.
The Assistant Curator of Archaeology
is currently developing activities designed to engage with community groups and raise awareness of the collections and the archaeology of the Dales.
The Assistant Curator, Collections and Volunteers
is based in Skipton, working with Volunteers in the three museums across the Craven district. To improve management of the museum collection and to make them more available to the people of Craven.
