This can arise from flooding, leaking water pipe, leaking drains or natural groundwater.

If the water is foul and smells of detergent or sewage then it could be from a leaking drain. Environmental Protection will investigate to try to identify which drain, if any, is leaking.

If the water is crystal clear, and comes in at a constant rate then it could be from a leaking water pipe. Yorkshire Water can advise if a mains supply is leaking.

However if the water cannot be traced to a leaking drain or to a leaking mains water supply it is likely to be caused by natural groundwater that has found a way into your property. To prevent any more water finding a way in you will need to take advice from a competent builder.
