Zoo Licensing Act 1981
Any premises where animals not normally domesticated in Great Britain are kept, which are open to the public for more that 7 days in a 12 month period, require a zoo licence.
Zoo licensing procedures involve Secretary of State nominated inspectors, and further guidance should be sought from this department.

What is a Zoo?
A zoo is a place where wild animals are kept and the public can visit for more than 7 days in a 12 month period. Wild animals are those that are not normally domesticated in Great Britain. It would include animals that have come from abroad and animals/birds/reptiles that are wild in this country.
