Craven In Bloom

Skipton - In July 1989 Skipton was awarded 4th place in the Town category of the annual Yorkshire in Bloom competition.  Unfortunately entry into the regional competition stopped and the quality of floral displays in the town declined.  2005 marked a welcome return to the competition, and the initiative is going from strength to strength.
The annual Yorkshire in Bloom judging takes place in April and June/July.  In 2007 Skipton achieved a Silver Award in the Small Town category of the Yorkshire in Bloom competition.  The judges also provided positive comments on the progress to date.
Skipton in Bloom also manage the Skipton Gardening Competition where residents, allotment holders and businesses can show off their amazing efforts and hopefully win prizes!

Craven District Council also aim to support similar groups in Settle, Ingleton, Grassington, Bentham and Hellifield.

To help support your local in bloom initiative we are looking for residents, Schools, youth organisations, shops, Public Houses and local businesses to join the existing organisations and residents who currently participate, to get involved in brightening up your town or village.
You or your organisations don’t have to have any particular horticultural skills to become involved – just a commitment to making your local area look more attractive.
