Active Craven  - Community Sports Network
Active Craven LogoThe Active Craven, community sports network, is part of the delivery system for sport in England.  It is the delivery end of the system where people take part in sport and active recreation.  It includes all sports facilities, sports clubs, sports events, sports coaches, sports volunteers and active recreation opportunities.  Craven District Council takes a leading role in developing and supporting the Active Craven: community sports network.  The overall aim of the network is to raise participation by 1% per year, that's about 650 new people per year.  The 2005  Craven on the Move: 5 year sport and active recreation strategy sets out the context, vision, aims and actions of the network.

This page will be used for all Active Craven partners to see joint document i.e. minutes of meetings and annual review.

The meetings start at 5.30pm with "Nibbles and Networking" with formal start to the meeting at 6pm.

The Characteristics, Roles and Responsibility of the Active Craven network is set out in the attached document.  The network has not gone down the line of setting up a formal constitution but has agreed to work under the principles set out in the Characteristics, Roles and Responsibilities.  This document also shows a structural diagramme of the network and partnerships.

This was based upon the network audit of the partners, organisations, events, facilities, current meeting structure. New partners to the network can see where they may fit into the network and join any relevant meetings or partnership.

In 2007 the network was asked by Sport England to produce and "Investment Portfolio". This is to show how Active Craven would utilise an allocation of Sport England - Community Investment Funding (CIF) towards achieving the 1% target of increasing participation.  The current investment portfolio is attached and projects can compete a form to become included in the list.  To date two project have been successful with Sport England funding and another 3 are working up applications.  Any project that would like to make an application needs to consider the Sport England CIF criteria as well as ensuring if links to the Craven on the Move Strategy.  If projects meet these conditions they can then ask the Active Craven network meetings for endorsement.    These meetings are held in April and October of each year.  See below for more details.

Annual Review: All partners contribute to the success of the Active Craven network in delivering the actions set out in the 5 year Craven on the Move Strategy.  Each Janaury we monitor and track delivery of actions set out in the stategy.  The draft 2007 Monitor and Tracking document shows what the partnership have achived over the year.  A traffic light system is used in the tracking of delivery, and headline progression for the year is shown in the front page of the document. The April 08 meeting of the network will be presented the work for amending and signing off.  All partners are invited to check progression and feedback for the meeting.
