  3. If you cannot find a club search through the Sport England Where to Get Active search tool for National Governing Body Club listings.
  4. The Get Active Guide also list a range of sports and leisure facilities in the Craven district.  This list is based upon the national Active Places website database.  This searchable website database provides you with a  system to look for any relevant facility near you.

The Sports Development Service updates the Club database on a continuous basis, with the "Get Active" booklet being published very 2 year, the next being in 2008/09.

If you  want your club listing please download, print off and complete the Club Questionnaire.  Return details are on the questionnaire.

Quality Standards - If you are looking to join a club you should satisfy yourself with the quality of provision. Not all the clubs listed on this website are affiliated to their Governing Body.  Not all the clubs have a nationally recognised quality mark (Sport England's Clubmark).  It is up to you to ensure that you are satisfied with the club and the opportunities that it provides.  This could relate to the safety of the activities, the quality of the coaching and child protection matters.

  1. One way to ensure this is to ask if the club has gained any Nationally recognised quality assurance schemes.  Sport England, the lead strategic body for sport in England, has one such scheme.  The Sport England Clubmark award recognises quality clubs by awarding them this status. Most NGB's club accreditation scheme is simply the Sport England Clubmark scheme.  The Get Active Guide clearly lists these sports clubs.
  2. Some National Governing Bodies (NGB) of Sport have their own quality assurance schemes linked to the Sport England Club mark scheme.  For instance the English Football Association has it's Charter Mark scheme.  This football only scheme covers clubs as well as school and football holiday schemes.

If these Sports Clubs gain their NGB quality scheme the Sport England Clubmark award is often linked to this.  This means that the Club would gain both their NGB National Award as well as the Sport England Clubmark award.  Please check NGB websites for details.

The Sports Development Service has gained Quest accreditation (UK Quality Scheme for Sport and Leisure) with a score of 85% leading to an "Excellent" rating.  This represents one of the highest scores in the UK.
