Search through the attached Get Active Guide to find out more, have a look on the Craven Events website or just goggle it.

In 2008 the 3 Peaks Fell Race Association hosted the World Long Distance Mountain Marathon Challange.  The event was a huge success for all involved and congratulations to the 3 Peaks Fell Race committee for putting on a real show case event. See the flyer for more details.

The Sports Development Officer works with a number of Sports events to help them get established.  By getting set up the right way and getting the right advice we can help you be successful, avoiding pitfalls and go from strength to strength.

Craven has a unique place in Sporting history - it has the largest concentration of Fell races outside the lake district.  The use of local natural fells as well as the local farming and village shows fell races are a prominent feature in Craven from early spring to late autumn.  See the event listing for more details of all events.

New events are always cropping up and over the past couple of years has seen the development of the Craven Race for Life event.  Taking place a the beautiful Broughton Hall just outside Skipton the event now regularly attracts runs and walkers in their thousands.  In 2006 the event raised over £100,000 for Breast Cancer Research UK.

New Events -  if you are not listed in the directory please send details in, via email, to the Sports Development Officer.

Event Support -  There is a limit to how many events the Sports Development Officer can support.  But often an early meeting in the planning stage can give the event organisers (You) a helping hand in steering the event in the right direction.  To be a successful event you need to be planning several different and complex matters - it's not just making sure you advertise the event but plan the budget, manage the risks, ensure quality experience and make sure you have enough people to deliver.

The Sports Development Service has gained Quest accreditation (UK Quality Scheme for Sport and Leisure) with a score of 85% leading to an "Excellent" rating.  This represents one of the highest scores in the UK.
