Sports Grants and Development Funding
Ther are funds out there to help you with your plans but how do you reach for it?

We all need resources to develop and grow. This page helps you find the best funding source for your project.  Craven has a very successful track record of securing funds to support sports projects.  Well over £13m has been invested into sport over the past 7 years of which the District Council has invested £3m.

The Active Craven community sports network  produced an "Investment Portfolio" in 2006 for Sport England.  This portfolio is a list of projects that required funding and was used to influence and support applications to Sport England’s Community Investment fund.  The portfolio includes about 30 projects of both capital projects and revenue and over £50,000.  In 2009 Sport England changed their funding strategy and this portfolio is no longer needed by them.  Projects should now make there case direct to either their Governing Body or direct to Sport England.  The Investment portfolio will be maintained and used to inform the Active Craven network as well as the Craven District Council "Infrastructure Demand Audit" for the Local Development Framework.

Please contact the Bruce Dinsmore to be included in the portfolio / Infrastructure audit

The Sports Development Officer works closely with many sporting and non sporting organisations to make joint applications for key projects.  This could be to develop a Community based Physical Activity project covering 3 years tackling low participation groups such as Women's and Girls.  If you have any such project the Sports Development Officer can offer support and guidance in making the best case for the application.

The Sports Development Officer works closely with the Community Development funding section in signposting organisations to funding sources.  They also administer the Council’s Community Grant Scheme.

Revenue, Capital and Core Funding

Craven District Council has its own Community Grants scheme for either  revenue or capital funding or a mixture of both.  Non for profit organisations can apply for up to £5000.  We also have a core funding grant scheme to support non for profit organisations with their ongoing financial needs.    Please read the guidance notes to help with your application.

The Funding Sources June 2007 gives projects and groups a whole range of funding sources that may fit your project.  For a more up to date sports specific listing please contact the Sports Development Officer

It is vital that any project application for funding is well planed out, meets local identified need, is realistic, deliverable and has a means to deliver.

Individual Grants for Talented Athletes.
