Planning Portal - The Council strongly encourages applicants to submit and pay for planning applications to us online.
Craven District Council provides a variety of services relating to the development and use of land.
- For the whole District, the Council provides both Building Control and Local Land Charges services. To view the Building Contol On Line Register's Web pages please follow the Building Control link or click HERE
- For the District OUTSIDE of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Council is local planning authority and provides Development Control services (including being able to apply for planning permission online).
- Prepares Planning Policy for the area OUTSIDE the Yorkshire Dales National Park, including the Local Development Framework.
- For the District WITHIN the Yorkshire Dales National Park, please visit the planning pages of the the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority as Development Control services and Planning Policy is prepared for the National Park area by the National Park Authority.
Breaches of Planning - who to contact?
If you want to tell us about any possible breach of planning, or you simply want to discuss a potential breach of planning with a member of the Council's staff, telephone the department on 01756 706265.
- You do not need to leave your name or contact details if you do not wish to do so.
- All matters concerning breach of planning are taken seriously and investigated when necessary.

Alternatively, you may prefer to request your local Councillors to take up your complaint on your behalf.
