Building Control Fees
The fees are incresing on 1st April 2008, the changes made are for Schedule 2 works only, i.e. extensions to dwellings, loft conversions and garages including conversion of existing garages to habitable spaces - a new schedule is available to download.
Radon 
The Health Protection Agency (HPS) and the British Geological Survey (BGS) plan to issue a new Radon map of England and Wales in July 2007.  For the lastest information please view the newsletters and for other information please visit their website

PART B - Fire Safety

 

On 18th December 2006, Communities and Local Government announced revisions to Part B (Fire safety) of the Building Regulations and the guidance in Approved Document B.


Revisions in force from 6 April 2007.


PART L - Conservation of Fuel and Power

New Approved Document L1A

The new Approved Document L1A came into force on 6th April 2006. 

There is now only one approach to show compliance with the energy efficiency requirements.

There are five criteria the designer and builder must go through to show compliance.

The new software required to produce the calculation in Part L is available on www.bre.co.uk

Down Lighter Protection

There continues to be confusion in some areas as to whether or not recessed down lighters should be protected to preserve the fire and acoustic rating of the ceiling lining that has been perforated in order to install them - the simple answer is yes, please visit following websites for more information: -
