The Environmental Capaity Study looks at the environmental constraints surrounding the main towns and villages in the District to find potential directions for growth.

The study was produced to accompany the Core Strategy Preferred Option Draft Document and was issued published for public consultation in November 2007 with the Core Strategy Preferred Option. Envision Consultants were commissioned by the Council to undertake the work.

An Alternative Option B is also presented for Glusburn/Crosshills and Sutton. This considers how the constraints surrounding the settlements would change if the Green Wedge Policy was removed.

This study will inform the allocation of land for new housing and employment use.
