Strategic Housing Market Assessment
Strategic Housing Market Assessment
The Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) analyses the local housing market characteristics and seeks to identify what factors influence those housing markets.
This includes looking at affordable housing in the District.  The study attempts to address issues of affordability by comparing average income to average house price in wards across Craven outside the National Park.

This study will form an important part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) Evidence Base and will inform LDF policies.

THE STRATEGIC HOUSING MARKET ASSESSMENT WILL UNDERGO PUBLIC CONSULTATION FROM 29TH AUGUST TO THE 10TH OCTOBER 2008.

The SHMA has been produced as a joint effort by the Council's Planning Policy, Economic Development and Housing Strategy Departments.

The Craven Housing and Employment Market Partnership has also been set up.  This group is made up of local industry representatives including developers, estate agents, land agents, housing associations, planning consultants and local businesses.  The Partnership have been meeting regularly and have provided the Council with expert knowledge on open market forces affecting the housing market.
