Settle and Giggleswick Conservation Areas Appraisals
A Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Strategy is being produced for the Conservation Areas at Settle and Giggleswick. The Appraisals are being carried out by Envision Consultants on behalf of Craven District Council.
The aim of the Appraisals is to define the special architectural and historical features of the Settle and Giggleswick Conservation Areas, identify areas for enhancement, highlight areas for discussion and put forward proposals for their management over the next 5 years.
The boundaries of the Conservation Areas will also be reviewed. The maps below show the current Conservation Area boundaries in Settle and Giggleswick:
The site surveys and desk-based research for the Appraisals was carried out in April and May 2008, and included a day of discussions with local residents and stakeholders on May 12th.
Following this work a draft Appraisal was written and is available to download below:
This draft Appraisals underwent a period of public consultation which ended on the 27th June 2008.
The comments received during the consultation period will now be considered and the Appraisals will be reviewed to produce a final draft.
