By Road
The M62 crosses the north of the district and offers easy connections with the M1, M6, and A1 north/south routes. Good roads within the area enable easy touring.
The best point to enter Skipton for the Council Offices is from the Gargrave Road roundabout (junction of A65 to Settle / Kendal and A59 to Clitheroe / Preston). At that roundabout take the turning into Skipton where the Little Chef will be on your right. Follow that road towards the town centre where you will come across a mini-roundabout (just into the 30mph area). Go straight ahead at the mini-roundabout and you will very quickly pass Skipton Girls’ High School on your left. Take the second street on the right after the Girls’ High School and follow that to its end where you should see the Council Offices immediately in front of you. There is usually sufficient car parking available at the Offices.
If you are trying to find the Council Offices from the town centre, head for the roundabout at the top (northern) end of the High Street and take the exit signposted for Gargrave / Kendal / Grassington and then take the mext left turning which will take you towards Gargrave. Follow that road, going straight on at the mini-roundabout in front of the Commercial public house. Follow the road past St Stephen’s Primary School an Ermysted’s Grammar School, both on the right. Then take the 4th turning left after the Grammar School and follow that to its end where you should see the Council Offices immediately in front you. There is usually sufficient car parking available at the Offices.
