To ensure the safe disposal of household hazardous chemicals, North Yorkshire County Council operates a monthly 'Haz-Chem' collection on behalf of the North Yorkshire Waste Partnership.
The chemicals are collected free of charge from residents of North Yorkshire, usually in the first full week of each month.

To arrange for a free collection and disposal of hazardous chemicals, householders must contact the County Council Waste Management Section on 01609 532512.
The following information will be required before a collection can be arranged:
- list of materials/chemicals to be collected
- volume/quantity
- how it is contained
- full contact details of premises from which the waste is to be collected
Hazardous Commercial Waste
