Fredrick UhlmanIn 2005 Craven Museum opened an exhibition gallery and became Craven Museum & Gallery.

The gallery houses several exhibitions every year and is the ideal space to show our nationally important Roebuck Art Collection.
Clement Roebuck's love of art went back to the 1930s; he never considered himself to be an art expert, but claimed to have an eye for pictures.  His collection boasts pieces from Dame Laura Knight, Graham Sutherland, Jacob Hendrik Pierneef, Pierre Bonnard and John Bratby amongst others.
Clement Roebuck died, aged 89, in 1988 and bequeathed 144 paintings, prints and sculptures to Craven Museum & Gallery.

A changing display of Clement's collection can be viewed upstairs in the museum.  A book about his life and his collection can be bought from the museum gift shop for only £2.50 each.

The museum also has work from many other artists, including; Marmaduke Miller, Sheila Bownas, Kenneth Holmes, W.T. Shuttleworth and Bill Wild.

Christmas at Craven Museum & Gallery is the best time to see work by Craven's best contemporary artists and makers.  The exhibition "Contemporary Craven Christmas" showcases pictures, jewellery and ceramics from local artists and is an opportunity for visitors to purchase original works.
