Heritage Lottery Fund BannerThe Craven Phoenix Project is a five year project aimed at making all the museums in Craven more accessible. It is being funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and Craven District Council. The project has employed two professionals, an Assistant Curator of Archaeology on a three year contract who  worked with Craven Museum's collections until September 2009, and an Assistant Curator, Collections and Volunteers on a five year contract working with all four museums: The Craven Museum & Gallery (Skipton), Upper Wharfedale Folk Life Museum (Grassington), The Museum of North Craven Life (The Folly, Settle) and Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway Museum.
The Assistant Curator of Archaeology  had a three-year contract until September 2009, and developed activities designed to engage with community groups and raised awareness of the collections and the archaeology of the Dales.

The Assistant Curator, Collections and Volunteers is based in Skipton, working with Volunteers in the three museums across the Craven district.  To improve management of the museum collection and to make them more available to the people of Craven.
