The under 12 winning entry by Alix Clarkson
On a gloomy day in Mousehole the Captains of lots of ships were getting ready to set sail. There was a harbour with a stone wall gap. The clouds were gathering in the blue sky, the waves shimmered and came up as sharp whales.
Captain Billy Rogers was about to go out with his dog in the storm. It was winter, it would be tough. Billy set sail with his dog, Ocean. The waves crashed as they went through the hole.
When they were a long way off Billy started fishing but the storm was fierce and wasn’t giving in. Billy soon realised he was heading for some rocks. He tried to turn but it was no use. Suddenly ocean barked, the waves stopped, Ocean kept on barking. The waves turned and brought them back through the hole. Ocean was a hero and everyone was happy.
