Settle Renaissance Market Town
What is the Renaissance Market Town (RMT) Initiative?
The Renaissance Market Town (RMT) initiative is a 10 year project launched by Yorkshire Forward in 2002. Its aim is to generate sustainable economic development within our rural capitals and encourage people to live, work and invest in them.
Settle Market Town joined the initiative in 2003 and since then a number of projects have been undertaken. When completed, these aim to bring about a positive change for Settle and the surrounding area.
StART (Settle Area Regeneration Team)
StART was founded in August 2003 and membership is open to residents of Settle and the surrounding area who have a wealth of knowledge about local issues and an interest in regeneration. Their role is to work in partnership with Yorkshire Forward, Craven District Council, North Yorkshire County Council, Settle District Chamber of Trade and the Town and Parish Councils to deliver the aims and objectives of StART's Initial Business Development Plan IBDP (Initial Business Development Plan)
StART Team Meetings
The Team meets on a monthly basis to receive project updates and to consider a wide range of Renaissance Market Town issues. The meetings
are usually held on the 4th Monday of the month in Settle Town Hall at 7 pm. Exact dates and times for StART team meetings as well as the agenda will be displayed on notice-boards in the Town Hall, Library, Booths and the Co-op in Settle. Details can also be found on www.settle.org.uk.
