Aireville Park

Aireville Park, a large open space with sporting facilities, is also available for organisations to book for outdoor events.

Aireville Park dates back to the 1830's when it was created by Henry Allcock part of the Aireville Estate.  Upon his death the Dewhurst family: wealthy Skipton Mill owners, including Belle Vue Mill where the Council Offices currently are, purchased the estate and Aireville Hall. The 171acre Estate passed into the hands of Skipton Urban Council in 1945 for a grand sum of £15,000 and it was at this time that sporting facilities were included. Craven District Council was successful with a Heritage Lottery Fund grant in 2007 to produce a park Conservation Management plan but was not successful with a full HLF bid to implement this.  The Council then produced a revised Park Master plan (2013) that it is currently busy delivering with support and in partnership with Friends of Aireville Park.

Aireville Park is available for organisations to book for open air (outdoor events). You will need to comply with certain licensing regulations, these are available by contacting the Council (01756) 792805 or email

The park boasts:

  • 14 hole Pitch and Putt course (this facility is closed and will re-open in Easter 2017)
  • Wheelpark for BMX, skateboards and rollerblades - info
  • Pump track for bicycles - info
  • Children's play areas
  • Multi Use Games Area, offering football, tennis, netball and basketball
  • , facilities include: main and training pool, fitness centre, and health suite (sauna and steam rooms).

Aireville Park is also the home of the annual Skipton Triathlon (managed by Freebird Events), the largest pool based triathlon in Yorkshire and Humberside.

And it hosts the weekly parkrun, every Saturday morning at 9am.

Aireville Skatepark After The new, improved wheelpark (skate park) for BMX, skateboards and rollerblades is now open for use!

Free access to all for experienced and novice riders.

Pump track

A brand new cycle pump track is open, adjacent to the wheelpark.  The track is for BMX, mountain bikes and off-road bikes and has rollers and berms (banked corners) to help you generate speed so you don't need to pedal around the track. Watch this video to learn how to ride a pump track:

Also please read the track sign and note the following safety points and track etiquette

  • Wear Helmets and other protective gear
  • Your bike should be in good working order with brakes
  • Do not brake hard and skid on the track
  • Check before you set off that the track is clear
  • Look ahead and around the berms and anticipate other riders
  • Keep off the soil and use the entrance to get on and off the track
  • Take litter home or use the bins

Free access to all for experienced and novice riders.

Play area

We have two play areas in Aireville Park; a larger area is just a short walk from Craven Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre along the main park path; a smaller area is located just outside of the Coffee Lounge and is for children up to 3 years old.

Events in Aireville Park

There are events in the park throughout the year.  All new events must firstly check the date, contact the relevant officer and then follow our booking procedure.
