Craven Youth Council
About us

The aim of Craven Youth Council is to empower young people aged 13 - 19 to influence and inform the decisions that affect their lives. We support young people to get involved in their communities and democracy locally, nationally and internationally, making a difference as volunteers, campaigners, decision-makers and leaders. Craven Youth Council meet every two weeks during term time on a Monday at the Otley Street Youth Centre in Skipton and once per term with local decision makers and organisations.

Who can join?

Anyone who lives or works in Craven can join the Youth Council as long as they are aged 11 - 19.

If you would like to get involved with Craven Youth Council please come along to our next meeting. We are a friendly group and our meetings are informal so either just pop along or if you would like more information contact Policy Development Officer

Next meeting

If you are aged 11 - 19 and would like to like to make your voice heard or have something you would like to see happen for young people in Craven, join us at our next meeting. If you would like further information please contact the Policy Development Officer .

The next Youth Council meeting will take place on:

Our work

The Youth Council identify through counsulting young people in their schools that their top issues are:

  • Transport, its expensive, the information isconfusing and services are infrequent.
  • Lack of things for young people to do in Craven.

To address these issues the Youth Council will be working on:

  • Skatepark
  • Climbing bolder
  • Transport

In the past Craven Youth Council has worked very hard on:

  • Ride Around for £1 to provide cheaper transport for young people.
  • film and music festival to give young people in Craven more to do.
  • Dragons Dento fund young people's activities so that young people have more to do.
