Craven Youth Council (supported by the 4Youth Service) is asking residents for their support to raise awareness of the barriers that travelling costs in the district present to young people.

Public transport is a key concern for the Youth Council. Transport services are infrequent and expensive and often prevent young people from accessing many key local services. The young people who sit on the Youth Council have been collecting signatures for a petition as part of a campaign for cheaper public transport for young people in the district. Craven District Council have been working with the Youth Council to make sure the views and needs of young people are heard. To illustrate the point of how difficult it is for young people to afford full fare and how much they rely on the infrequent rural services, the Leader of the District Council joined the Youth Council in a journey to travel from one of the most rural parts of the District, Appletreewick to Skipton with the small budget of £5.
