Release Date: A review of the polling districts and polling places is now underway. Craven District Council is consulting with interested individuals and organisations.
Up to 28 October, the Council would like to hear from residents, in particular stakeholders, such as electors, parishes, political parties and councillors. Comments from those that have expertise in access for people with disabilities will be particularly welcomed.
Anyone who would like information about a particular parish or part of the District should contact us either by e-mail (elections@cravendc.gov.uk) or telephone (01756 706241).
Craven District Council's Returning Officer, Colin Iveson, said:
"Over the years, there has been little need to change any of the locations where voting takes place in Craven. But the people who know best about the local polling stations are those who vote. If anyone thinks we should consider alternative locations to the polling stations used in May this year, they should let us have their views as soon as possible."
Views and comments should be made, in writing, setting out suggestions, no later than Friday, 28 October 2011 to the:
Democratic Services Manager, Craven District Council, 1 Belle Vue Square, Broughton Road, Skipton, BD23 1FJ.
email: elections@cravendc.gov.uk
Recommendations will be made to the Council, taking account of the views and comments received. These recommendations will be considered at a meeting of the Audit and Governance Committee on 16 November 2011 and then at the Council Meeting on 6th December. Both these meetings will be open to the public.
The result of the review will be published by the Council in early 2012 at the Belle Vue Square Offices, Skipton and on the website.
