Hate crime in any form is wrong. That is why it is important that if hate crime happens to you or someone you know, that you report it.

A Hate Incident is:

Any incident which may, or may not, constitute a criminal offence, which is perceived by the victim, or any other person, as being motivated by prejudice or hate.

Any hate incident, which constitutes a criminal offence, perceived by the victim, or any other person, as being motivated by prejudice or hate.

The prejudice or hate perceived can be based on any of the following;

  • Disability
  • Race
  • Religion
  • Sexual orientation
  • Transgender

Why should you report a Hate Incident/Crime?

If you have personally experienced a hate crime or hate incident it is important that you report it. Without your reports we are not able to fully assess the true scale of hate crime across the county.

There are 85 third party reporting centres across North Yorkshire, please see the Hate crime reporting centres.

You can also report hate crime/incident at Craven District Council Offices or library where a member of staff can assist you.

You can also request an easy read version of the reporting pack for reporting disability related hate crimes, these can be requested from any Hate Crime reporting centre.
