Voluntary organisations welcome in 2010 with a gift from the council.
Craven District Council has welcomed in 2010 by awarding £40,800 in community and capital grants to voluntary organisations across Craven.
The Community Grants Sub-Committee met on 15 December and awarded the following in community and capital grants:
Community Grants
Bentham District 'Contact the Elderly' awarded £430 towards holding Contact the Elderly Monthly Tea Parties
Skipton Music Festival awarded £250
Thornton in Craven Social Committee awarded £400 for a projector and sound system
Alzheimer's Society Craven Branch awarded £1,000 towards its Café Active
Burnsall Village Hall Management Committee awarded £1,000 towards a Sustainable Heating project
Gargrave Bowling Club awarded £750 to help repair the Pavillion
Green Close Studio awarded £1,000 towards the Bowland Art Festival 2010
Springfield Bowling Club awarded £!,000 for improvements to the Club entrance Skipton Swimming Club awarded £670 to provide training
Yorkshire Friends of the Northern Chamber Music Orchestra awarded £1,000 towards the Skipton Group Music Creation and Performance and Digital Art project

Goodenber Play Area Association awarded £5,000 to refurbish the Goodenber play area
Bentham Playing Fields Association awarded £5,000 towards Bentham Playing Fields Phase 3 refurbishments
Grassington Hub awarded £4,976 towards the Grassington Hub
Cononley Playing Field awarded £4,976 for play equipment for Cononley Village Playing Field
Glusburn Institute Management Committee awarded £5,000 for the Glusburn Institute development project
Skipton Rugby Football Club awarded £3,329 towards a new boiler
Bentham Town Hall awarded £5,000 to support its Community Youth project
Councillor Ken Hart, Chair of the Grants Sub Committee, said: "We hope these grants will provide a welcome New Year boost to voluntary organisations across Craven. We aim to fund projects which will benefit the local community as well as supporting Craven District Council's own corporate priorities and those of Craven's Community Strategy."
Craven District Council had a total funding pot of £56K available to support community projects during 2009/10. The Council awards grants of up to £5000 throughout the year to local community groups for projects which benefit the local community. The deadline for the next round of applications is 28 February 2010.
Funding is currently provided at three levels:
• Small Community Grants from £100 to £500 for either capital or revenue purposes. These can be for up to 100% of the total project costs.
• Medium Community Grants from £501 to £1,000 for either capital or revenue purposes. These can be for up to 50% of the total project costs with the remaining 50% provided from other sources.
• Capital Grants from £1,000 to £5,000 for capital projects. These grants can be for up to 25% of the total project costs with the remaining 75% provided from other sources.
