Water based Attractions

Craven has many different water based attractions. The problem you have is not what to do, but where to start.

Embsay reservoir is nestled below Earl Crag on the South West corner of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The location makes for great sailing - often there is no wind in the Wharfedale and Airedale valleys, but plenty to go round at Embsay! Its easily accessible from neighbouring towns and villages.

Grimwith Reservoir
Grimwith Reservoir is simply the best windsurfing venue in the area. It's very big and being at 1000' (300m) altitude, the wind is nearly always blowing a good force.
You can sail and race a wide variety of craft of virtually any type of boat. Both Laser and RS are well represented as well as the 9'ers, together with a sprinkling of more traditional classes. (Directions)
