Local Community Groups receive Grants from Craven District Council

30/04/12 - Craven District Council recently awarded over £14,983 of grant funding to 11 community groups from across Craven.

Three Peaks Race Association was awarded £500 towards the cost of staging the 2012 Yorkshire Three Peaks Race which is a fell running marathon.

Gargrave and Malhamdale Community Library was awarded £1,000 to help set up a community library run by volunteers so that a local library can be retained and developed after the NYCC run Library is closed in March 2012.

Ingleton and District Tradespeoples Association was awarded £1,000 towards the costs of holding Ingleton Overground Underground and Ingleton Folk Weekend Festivals in 2012. The two festivals offer an array of cultural opportunities including music, dance, art exhibitions, films and outdoor and environmental activities.

Sutton Cricket Club was awarded £500 to purchase coaching mats for Sutton Juniors.

Grassington Festival of Music and Arts was awarded £533 towards the cost of their community arts activities which will take place as part of the 2012 festival.

Bentham District Contact the Elderly was awarded £500 towards the cost of holding monthly tea parties for vulnerable and isolated older people.

Glusburn Luncheon Club was awarded £1,000 towards the cost of holding a weekly lunch club for older people.

Skipton Tennis Club was awarded £1000 towards the cost of refurbishing two tennis courts.

Long Preston Village Hall was awarded £200 towards the cost of replacement low energy ceiling lights.

Burton-in-Lonsdale Village Shop Association was awarded a grant of £5,000 towards the cost of shop improvements including a new community café.

Growing with Grace was awarded £3,750 towards the cost of improving facilities for volunteers and visitors.

The Craven District Council Community Grants Sub-Committee meets every three months to award grants to local community groups for projects which benefit the community.
