04/07/12 - On Tuesday 3rd July Members of Policy Committee considered a notice of motion re the development of 9 High Street and rear of Skipton Town Hall.
The notice of motion called upon the Council to review its position and options with regard to the development of 9 High Street and rear of the Town Hall.
The development which recently received planning permission will provide new retail and restaurant opportunities on land currently owned by Craven District Council.
Reviewing the Council's position and the detail of the development agreement Members agreed the only option open to the Council was to complete the land transfer to the developers, Maple Grove Developments Ltd.
Councillor Christopher Knowles-Fitton, Leader of Craven District Council, said: "the development proposal has been given rigorous consideration by the Planning Inspectorate who concluded the proposal will improve the vitality and viability of Skipton by extending customer choice with no harm to existing shops or heritage assets. The Council will now work with the developers to take the scheme forward"
