Political parties
Political parties are made up of a membership of people who are interested in promoting similar ideas and ideologies. They are an important basis for the democratic system we operate under. You will find that many elected representative of councils and other forms of government across the country are made up mainly of people who are elected under the name of a political party.
The use of political party descriptions enables people to have a general understanding of what that individual stands for. The Council maintains contact with political parties within the Craven District and names and contact points of those of which we are aware are:
