04/02/2014 - Gargrave Neighbourhood Plan Area Designated

The next step is for Gargrave Parish Council to prepare a draft Neighbourhood Plan, with support from Craven District Council.

Gargrave Parish Council will draw up a Parish Neighbourhood Plan for the entire area within the parish boundary. Craven District Council's Spatial Planning Sub Committee approved designation of the area following consultation on the Gargrave Parish Neighbourhood Area in December 2013 and January 2014.

The next step is for Gargrave Parish Council to prepare a draft Neighbourhood Plan, with support from Craven District Council. This plan will show how the level of new housing and employment growth, as identified in the district's Local Plan, will be met or exceeded. The Gargrave Neighbourhood Plan needs to be in line with the strategic policies within the District's Local Plan, but provides the Parish Council with the opportunity to set out its vision, aims, local policies and proposals for the future development of Gargrave parish.

In a statement, Gargrave Parish Council says it is 'delighted to work with a team of volunteers from the village to develop a plan for the village which does not sacrifice its character and the Council is grateful for funding for this project from the Community Development Fund and the Coulthurst Trust.'

Craven District Councillor Simon Myers, who represents the Gargrave and Malhamdale Ward, says: "We are looking forward to working with Gargrave Parish Council to assist them in preparing a Neighbourhood Plan that addresses specific local issues. The plan will be beneficial to Gargrave parish residents and to Craven as a whole."
