18/03/2014 - Craven celebrates as Skipton is named Best Place to Live in Britain

Skipton is the best place to live in the Britain, The Sunday Times annual Best Places to Live supplement revealed. The BD23 area tops the list because 'it really does have everything,' according to the report.

Skipton Market It cites the factors such as the area's low crime rates, reasonably priced housing, top-class schools, great transport links, a thriving high street and the proximity of the Yorkshire Dales.

Leader of Craven District Council Chris Knowles Fitton says: "This is recognition of the great good fortune which Craven residents who live in and around Skipton enjoy and one for which we should be grateful and proud. It follows the award Skipton received for the best High Street in England in 2008. This accolade will further boost the area as a great place to live, work and visit and we shall all continue to work hard to maintain and enhance the town's growing reputation."

Craven District Council's Chief Executive Paul Shevlin adds: "Topping the list is the result of joint effort and hard work by those who live and work here. Residents, businesses, authorities, everybody in the Craven area should feel proud of this achievement."
