15/05/2014 - Join in the free local Sky Rides

Five free Sky Rides will take place from Skipton this summer. The series offers you the chance to join in fun Sunday morning bike rides, led by trained British Cycling ride leaders.

The Sky Rides in Craven are part of a nationwide programme to encourage people to go cycling, offering guided rides of varying distances and difficulty. Craven District Council has been working closely with North Yorkshire County Council and British Cycling to bring the Sky Rides to Craven as part of the Tour de France Legacy programme.

Bruce Dinsmore, Craven District Council's Sports Development officer, says: "Sky Rides are a great way for people to get back on their bikes and enjoy a fully guided ride around quiet, local country lanes and villages. Two of the rides are before the Tour de France comes through Skipton and the Dales with three of the rides straight after Le Tour. So come and join us as part of a Summer of Cycling."

The Skipton Sky Rides will take place on the following dates (click on each event for a direct link)

All rides start at 10.00 am outside Dave Ferguson Cycles, Albion Yard, Skipton.

Sky Ride participants have a chance to bag some exclusive gifts. Take part in two rides, and you get a British Cycling neck buff. Riders who take part three times will receive an exclusive British Cycling water bottle and chance to win a VIP tour of Britain experience this September.
