Albion Place named Development of the Year

Albion Place in Skipton has been recognised as the best property development in Yorkshire over the last 12 months, taking the top prize at Insider's Yorkshire Property Industry Awards.

Albion Place is the new retail centre adjacent to the Town Hall, which is within Skipton's conservation area. It was developed by Maple Grove Developments & Bowman Riley Architects and opened its doors in April 2014.

The judges unanimously considered Albion Place to be a differentiator. They recognised its importance to the local area and the wider Yorkshire region, in the same way the First Direct Arena and Leeds Trinity were to Leeds. (Leeds Trinity won the award in 2013). The judges agreed that Albion Place was big and important and therefore awarded the development the 2014 Yorkshire Property Industry Awards Development of the Year.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Chris Knowles-Fitton, said: "I am delighted by the news of the award for the high quality Albion Place development. The Council chose Maple Grove as its developer partner for the land it owned on Skipton High Street and rear of the Town Hall, which was to become known as Albion Place. The results are very impressive, including the 95% of space being let prior to completion of the construction phase".
