  • Bid for Tour de France history

    Craven District Council is auctioning off official Tour de France bunting and banners that adorned Skipton this summer. Money raised will go the Chairman of the Council's charity Lupus UK.

  • The winners of the Craven Community Champion Awards 2014

    A special prize evening was held at The Coniston Hotel last Thursday to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Craven's communities. The awards ceremony paid accolade to some amazing people who help to make the district special. Winners of the awards were given their moment in the spotlight when the third annual Craven Community Champion Awards were announced.

  • Community shop, village hall and first responders receive grant funding

    Craven District Council Community Grants Sub-Committee has awarded £2000 in grant funding to Clapham Community Shop Ltd, while Skipton First Responders and Long Preston Village Hall will receive up to £1000 and £150 respectively.

  • Major building work starts at Skipton Town Hall

    Craven Museum & Gallery and the main hall in Skipton Town Hall will be closed until Spring 2015 as phase I of the major refurbishment of the building gets underway. The main hall will briefly open its doors for the annual Skipton Music Festival in March, but will officially re-open in April, when the initial refurbishment is completed.

  • Craven District Council Leader stands down

    Councillor Chris Knowles - Fitton (Conservative) is to stand down as Leader of Craven District Council. He informed members about his decision during last Tuesday's Council meeting. The reason for his resignation is a house move to Devon.

  • Bentham and Burton go Superfast!

    The first homes and businesses in Low Bentham, High Bentham and Burton-in-Lonsdale will soon be able to benefit from fibre broadband at superfast speeds, with more properties to follow.
