Expenses for officers and councillors

Details of officer and councillor expense claims exceeding £500 per month

The Local Government Transparency Code requires local authorities to publish expenses expenditure for officers and councillors exceeding £500.

We have published this information based on our interpretation of draft local transparency guidance published by the Local Government Association

This states travel and subsistence claims should be published as a cumulative cost per month. We have taken this to mean those payments to individuals claiming travel (including car allowance payments) and subsistence expenses which exceed £500 within a particular month.

We publish data quarterly and payments exceeding £500 per month within each quarter are identified as a cumulative amount for that month.

Whilst names of councillors are published as this is also available elsewhere on our website, we have redacted names of individual officers as, in the absence of further guidance we are considering  this personal data.

The deadline for initial publication was 31 December 2014. Spend between August and December 14 was published at this point

It is now being published quarterly - not later than 1 month after quarters ending 31 March, 30 June, 30 September and 31 December.

Please note: there is no data to publish for between June 2015 and March 2017 - as no individuals have claimed claiming travel and subsistence expenses which exceed £500 within one of those months.
