One off garden waste collection and free Christmas tree collection

Residents who subscribe to Craven District Council's garden waste collection service will be offered a one-off collection this month - weather permitting.

Christmas tree

Collections will take place during the week commencing January 18 for properties on the 'Week One' schedule, and during the week beginning January 25 for properties on the 'Week Two' schedule. Collections will take place on residents' usual collection day.

Councillor Alan Sutcliffe, Lead Member for Greener Craven said: "In 2014, the council received requests from the general public for a mid-winter collection due to extra green waste following milder weather conditions.

"This extra collection was successful in early 2015 and we have decided that an extra mid-winter round would again be useful to residents."

This extra collection will also include the collection of Christmas trees. Please ensure your Christmas tree is cut into pieces smaller than 1.2m (4ft) and place them next to your brown bin on your scheduled collection day.

Residents that have not subscribed to the garden waste service can also arrange for a free collection of their Christmas trees. Requests for collections can be made online at www.cravendc.gov.uk/Christmasrecycling or by contacting Customer Services on 01756 700600. Requests must be made before January 17. Collections will take place during the weeks beginning January 18 and January 31.
