Craven Emerging - a fantastic opportunity for young local bands

Craven Emerging is a brand new music event for young people at Skipton Town Hall - offering new bands the chance to showcase their talents.

Band crowd

The new event run by Craven District Council offers an amazing opportunity for Craven's local emerging bands to perform right in the heart of Skipton.

The band application entry is free and organisers hope the event will attract a large crowd and possibly record label representatives.

Councillor Simon Myers, Craven District Council's lead member for Enterprising Craven, said: "This is a great opportunity for young bands to showcase their talents in front of an audience in a big venue.

"We know there is an extraordinary amount of musical talent within the district and look forward to seeing it on display. This event really could put young musicians on the road to stardom in the future."

The majority of the band members must be aged under the age of 30 to enter. Music must fit within the following categories or be a form of hybrid of the categories: indie/alternative, punk, rock, grunge.

The band must also be flexible on March 24, 2016 for sound checks and a run through during the afternoon and evening. They must also be unsigned and not associated with any record labels, and must be able to send links to their music and/or send links to upcoming gigs with dates and times.

The application deadline is Friday February 26, 2016.
