Apply for a Premises Licence

You can apply for various premises applications by post and online. All applications must be sent to Licensing, Craven District Council, 1 Belle Vue Square, Broughton Road, Skipton, BD23 1FJ.

How do you apply for a premises licence?

Your application needs to be accompanied by the following:

  • a plan of the premises;

  • an operating schedule (included in the application form);
  • a form of consent from the individual who is to be specified in the licence as the designated premises supervisor if you are applying to supply alcohol word icon Consent Form [39kb].

You are required to give a copy of your application, along with the above documentation, to all responsible authorities in the area in which the premises is situated on the same day as the application is given to the licensing authority. word icon Responsible Authorities [178kb]

You must also advertise your application:

  • on a notice, displayed at the premises, for 28 consecutive days starting on the day after the application has been given to the council. Please be aware this document should be printed on blue paper as required by Regulation 25 of the Licensing Act 2003. word icon New Application Notice [24kb];
  • in a local newspaper at least once during the ten working days after your application has been given to the council.

Please note: The Council has no facility to accept cash payments. Payment must be by cheque or credit/debit card only.

How do you vary your premises licence?

There are two methods available to vary your premises licence;

  • The full variation application for substantial changes to your licence and any changes that may have an impact on the licensing objectives.
  • The minor variation application for smaller changes that are less likely to have an impact on the licensing objectives.

Full Variation

Your application needs to be accompanied by the following:

You are required to give a copy of your application, along with the above documentation, to all responsible authorities in the area in which the premises is situated on the same day as the application is given to the licensing authority. word icon Responsible Authorities [178kb]

You must also advertise your application:

Minor Variation

Minor Variations require a statutory notice to be displayed on white A4 paper at the premises for 10 working days starting on the day after the day on which the application was given to Craven District Council. word icon Minor Variation Notice [25kb]

How do you change the designated premises supervisor on your licence?

Your application needs to be accompanied by the following:

  • the current premises licence;
  • the required fee of £23.00 ;
  • consent of individual to being specified as designated premises supervisor. word icon Consent Form [39kb]

The designated premises supervisor must inform the issuing licensing authority if he or she wishes to be removed as designated premises supervisor and give the premises licence holder a copy within 48 hours of the notice being given to the council. The designated premises supervisor must also send a notice directing the licence holder to send to the licensing authority the premises licence.

How do you transfer a licence?

Your application needs to be accompanied by the following:

  • the current premises licence;
  • the required fee of £23.00;
  • a consent of transfer from the current licence holder. word icon Consent Form [38kb]

You are required to give a copy of your application to the chief officer of police in the area in which the premises is situated on the same day as the application is given to the licensing authority. word icon Responsible Authorities [178kb]

Review of a Premises Licence

How can an application for review be made?

Any applicant for the review of a premises licence or club premises certificate must fully complete the prescribed application form and send it to the Licensing Authority.  On the same day as the application is served on the Licensing Authority, the applicant must send copies of the application to all of the responsible authorities and the holder of the licence or certificate.
