Embsay by-election announced

A by-election in the Embsay-with-Eastby ward of Craven District Council has been requested and is scheduled to take place on March 31.

Anyone wishing to stand in the election will have to submit nomination papers to Craven District Council no later than 4pm on Wednesday March 2.

If the election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday, March 31.

There is a vacancy in the ward following the death of Councillor Andy Quinn last year.

Nomination papers may be obtained from the offices of the Returning Officer, 1 Belle Vue Square, Broughton Road, Skipton, BD23 1FJ, and must be delivered back to the Returning Officer at the same address.

The deadline for applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes is 5pm on Monday, March 14, 2016.

The deadline for new applications to vote by proxy at this election is 5pm on Monday, March 21, 2016.

Applications to vote by proxy at this election applied for on grounds of either physical incapacity or absence in relation to occupation, employment or service occurring after 5 pm on Monday, March 2016 must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at 1 Belle Vue Square, Broughton Road, Skipton, BD23 1FJ by 5pm on Thursday, March 31, 2016.
